近之則不孫，遠之則怨

子曰：“唯女子與小人為難養也，近之則不孫，遠之則怨。”
《論語陽貨篇》
The Master said, "Of all people, girls and servants are the most difficult to behave to. If you are familiar with them, they lose their humility. If you maintain a reserve towards them, they are discontented."......英文採直譯方式。

孔子說：“唯女子與小人難以對付。太親近了，他們就會失禮；太疏遠了，他們就會怨恨。”
所言的女子並非泛指所有女性，是指屬於【近之則不遜，遠之則怨】的男女。
“孫”，遜之古字。
所言重點在於【近之則不遜，遠之則怨】，世人多引用前句，斷章取義，以為戲謔語。
然問及下句，大多為之語塞。

【君子之交，淡如水。】，如今始覺乃至理名言啊!!
